Last Friday, October 27th, The Commonwealth Institute (TCI) and The Boston Globe hosted the awards for the Top 100 Women-Led Businesses in Massachusetts. Hollister Staffing came in 85th overall, and was one of a few Boston-based organizations recognized for their initiatives in leadership development, including their partnership with TCI on the 2018 Massachusetts Women's Leadership Development Impact Survey.
Highlights included management of uncertainty through culture shifts, reinvention of company vision, workforce development, and continued learning. Through an understanding of culture and personal nuances comes effective communication and progressive, strategic thinking.
Jennifer Gilhool, the keynote speaker, focused on personal identities and authentic leadership. She shared a story about the compromises she made in the workplace to make other people comfortable and happy, reminding us all to “belong to ourselves” first. Her closing words - “get closer”, “be generous” and “choose courage”.
It was an inspirational, thought-provoking morning, and an honor for the entire Hollister team!
