Chopping Champions at Pine Street Inn

As the Hollister Staffing team, we had very a memorable volunteer experience on their recent visit to Pine Street Inn, an organization that provides a wide range of services to battle homelessness by partnering with individuals to help them move from the streets and shelters to a permanent home. They offer supportive housing, job training and placement, emergency shelter and street outreach to more than 1,900 homeless men and women each day. They also prepare over 2,000 meals a day, for breakfast, lunch and dinner, to serve at their cafeteria and other shelters around the city.

At Hollister, we promote community involvement and giving back and we believe it is our mission to make a positive impact to those around us. Inspired by Kip Hollister, CEO of Hollister Staffing, and her family’s regular volunteer work at Pine Street Inn, we decided to roll up our sleeves and help out in the kitchens for a morning of chopping and food prepetition for that day’s dinner service.

The Hollister team sliced bread, diced celery, prepared 800 pieces fish, and chopped over 150 pounds of onions! We also wrapped over 700 utensils. The food prepared helped feed the 300+ men and women that visited Pine Street Inn for dinner that day.

Thank you Pine Street Inn for the amazing experience, we look forward to our next visit!
