On December 14, 2016, Kip Hollister, Founder & CEO of Hollister Staffing, participated in the Career Counselors' Consortium Annual Employer Panel sponsored by Northeastern University. The audience was a group of regional career counseling professionals from high education, private practice, workforce development and non-profits in the Greater Boston area. Kip was one of 4 panelists including: Juanita Allen, Recruitment and Outreach Manager, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Julia Beaty, Campus Recruiter, Wayfair and Dena Lerra, Human Resource Partners HealthCare. The overarching theme was that a resume is only one part of what employers look at when hiring.
The following are also critical factors for hiring managers:
- Did recent college grads have jobs in High School?
- Did the applicant follow up with a hand written note?
- Did the applicant have good references accompanying any internship?
