The Payroll and Benefits Manager is responsible for accurate and timely processing of payroll for nearly 400 employees as well as maintaining and coordinating employee benefits. This position will report to the EVP of Finance. We are seeking someone who can work in an entrepreneurial firm and help scale the organization. This person is solutions-oriented, can think outside of the box, and be creative to put best practices in place.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Process weekly payroll for multiple entities, input changes, updates, and corrections to payroll and employee records including salary actions, commissions, status changes, direct deposits, tax withholdings, payroll deductions, garnishments, and other related entries
  • Primary contact for payroll and benefits related issues
  • Prepare offer letters, conduct new employee orientation and ensure paperwork completion
  • Administer benefits including health and dental insurance, 401K, FSA, LTD, STD, Life insurance
  • Coordinate annual open enrollments
  • Process FMLA, MMLA, STD, LTD and Worker’s compensation claims
  • Track and maintain PTO records
  • Ensure compliance with I9 process and serve as primary contact for any I9 issues
  • Manage and process all unemployment claims as well as employment verifications
  • Manage 401K, worker’s compensation, sales and use tax audits
  • Handle renewal of all liability and worker’s compensation insurances as well as company licenses
  • Generate and transmit weekly employee withholding data files to Fidelity (for 401k) and flex spending
  • Conduct exit interviews
  • Notify COBRA provider of any new hires and terms
  • General paperwork filings
  • Produce periodic reports
  • Run background checks
  • Work on special projects as requested and other duties as required

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate a high-level of integrity
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
  • A strong sense of ethics including the ability to appropriately handle confidential information
  • Self-starter, independent thinker, a team player with a positive can-do attitude with an outgoing, professional and engaging personality
  • Strong problem solving and follow-up skills and be proficient with Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • College degree required
  • Payroll journal entry into accounting system a plus
