One of our biggest clients, a Research University in Cambridge, MA is looking to hire an HR Coordinator to join the HR team at their School of Engineering. The ideal candidate for this position is someone who has experience in HR or is looking to step foot into this department, is an excellent communicator and enjoys working with students and is comfortable in being immersed in a multi-cultural higher-ed working environment.

Interpreting, advising, and providing information on School of Engineering and general University HR operations and processes
Managing payroll; tracking/auditing various HR transactions/activities, e.g., turnover, promotion, grievances, leaves of absence, open positions, and performance reviews
Managing on- and off-boarding; participating in searches for open positions by working with faculty to craft job descriptions and advertise positions widely
Advising hiring managers on compensation, interviewing; may assist with reference checking; working on staff promotion cases; serving as point person for staff leaves
Coordinating annual salary review processes for SRS, support, academic
Working with Administrative Officer (AO) on staff development plans and performance evaluations
Coordinate visa-related issues for department staff, visiting students and scholars
Serving as the first point of contact for employee issues, questions, complaints, and suggestions; providing guidance on basic employee relations issues
Ensuring HR activities, records, and forms are in compliance with applicable laws and guidelines
Other duties as directed
Bachelor's degree required
Minimum two years’ related HR experience
Working familiarity with federal and state employment laws and HR principles
Strong knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SAP, Quickbase or similar tools
Superior organizational skills; attention to detail
Ability to work independently, proactively, and cross-functionally in a team-oriented environment
Excellent communication, client service, interpersonal, and problem solving skills
Familiarity with SAP, Cognos, Atlas tools, ESDS, and an applicant tracking system preferred.
