On May 2, 2019, the Hollister team joined over a thousand LGBTQ+ corporate professionals from the Greater Boston area at the Marriot Boston Copley Place Ballroom for Boston Spirit Magazine’s 13th Annual Executive Networking Night.
For the duration of the evening, the ballroom buzzed with energy and enthusiasm. Everyone was excited to be given the opportunity to form new connections with fellow LGBTQ+ professionals and allies, as well as to engage in conversations about issues facing the community.
One of the event’s main draws was its keynote speaker, US Congressman David Cicilline, who is known for having introduced the Equality Act to Congress in 2015. The bill, if passed, would extend comprehensive anti‑discrimination protections to the LGBT community.
Although inclement weather kept him from being there in person, Cicilline’s remarks, which were delivered via Skype, still left a lasting impression.
“It hasn’t been an easy process, but fairness and equality are core values that unite us as Americans,” Cicilline said. “Living a life free from discrimination is central to our understanding of what it means to be truly free. Hate and bigotry have no place in America.”
Among others to speak were Nancy Stager of Eastern Bank, Matt Badger of Partners Healthcare, and Nick Wayland of Fidelity Investments – all of whom were able to shed light on the important contributions of the LGBTQ+ community in our country and the progress that is being made in the fight for equality.
Hollister Staffing is proud to have sponsored this event and supports all that Boston Spirit stands for and does as an organization.
